Manipulations - things done by the beekeeper as a management practice - are not the same as treatments but may serve similar purpose . If manipulations (like frequent queen replacement, systematic splitting, or drone comb removal) are done for the purposes of helping the bees with mites or any other disease, then the question arises in my mind: is manipulation a treatment?
Treatment-free beekeeping isn't easy. Or, perhaps, it is too easy for and we just tend to complicate it.
