Forum Rules and Regulations
Registration to this forum is free! We do insist that you abide by the rules and policies detailed below and hold all members accountable to these rules in their activity on the forum.
The Shelbees Beekeeping Forums purpose is focused primarily on beekeeping and its related topics. While our intention is to give to all members as much latitude and freedom in their postings as practicable, we expect all posted material to stay within the related topics of each forum and thread.
Considering the real-time nature of the Shelbees Beekeeping Forums, it is impossible for us to review all messages or confirm the validity of information posted. Please remember that while we do monitor the contents of messages, we are not responsible for any or all messages posted. We do not vouch for or warrant the accuracy, completeness or usefulness of any message, and are not responsible for the contents of any message. The messages express the views of the author of the message, not necessarily the views of Shelbees or any entity associated with either Shelbees or the Shelby County Beekeepers Association. Any user who feels that a posted message is objectionable is encouraged to contact us immediately by Report Post icon or by email (admin@Shelbees.com). We have the ability to remove objectionable messages and we will make every effort to do so, within a reasonable time frame, if we determine that removal is necessary. This is a manual process, however, so please realize that we may not be able to remove or edit particular messages immediately.
Although the administrators and moderators of Shelbees Beekeeping Forums will attempt to keep all objectionable messages off this forum, it is impossible for us to review all messages. All messages express the views of the author and the owner of Shelbees Beekeeping Forums will not be held responsible for the content of any message.
You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use the Shelbees Beekeeping Forums to post any material which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise violative of any law. You agree to be civil and "observe with both friend and foe the ordinary rules of courtesy." You agree not to post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or contains a permission statement for its use by the copyright owner.
Be civil. Personal attacks are never okay. We can disagree and debate a subject, which is fine. You'll find no "know-it-all's" here. No one on this forum is in a position where they can't be questioned or disagreed with in a civil manner.
Quoting. Don't quote back entire messages in your reply. While this board allows you to "quote" (i.e. include) messages when you reply to them, very rarely do you ever need to quote the entire message from a previous post. Simply quote the relevant portion and cut out the rest. Never include images in your quote.
Double posting/Cross posting. Don't do it: try to keep postings in the subforum which seems appropriate for the topic.
Ignore List. Members have the ability to ignore (not see) other member's posts. If you choose to utilize this feature, keep it to yourself. Do not publicize that you have "xxxx" member on your ignore list.
Private Messages. Do not post messages that instruct other members to check their Private Messages or inform them that a PM was sent. If you need to communicate with another member about their PM's, PM them or send them an email. You agree to abide by the forum rules even in your Private Messages. Your PM privilege will be revoked if another member complains about receiving improper messages from you.
Sarcasm & humor. Avoid sarcasm and be careful with humor. You are communicating entirely by your words. You don't have the benefit of facial expression, body language, or tone of voice to let somebody know you're "only kidding" when you make a sarcastic remark. Members of this board will appreciate well-written, humorous pieces or responses, but be sure your writing will be interpreted that way.
Language/Profanity. It is not acceptable to infer the use of a profane word by an acronym, or using **** or $^@*!. By the use of such characters it's being acknowledged by the user that the word implied isn't acceptable. Do not use language that is lewd, vulgar, coarse, off-color, crass, derogatory, or obscene. Respect the sites desire to not have any form of suggestive language used in it's forums.
Jokes. A warning about posting jokes. How do you know if a joke is appropriate or not? If you wouldn't tell the joke to your 12 year old son or daughter, or tell it to a gathering at church, don't post it here. The moderators have the final say about a jokes appropriateness and will edit or delete as needed.
Posting links. Do not post links to your website in the Welcome Forum. The goal is to welcome new members and help get them acquainted with the Shelbees Beekeeping Forums. Excessive posting of links to your personal website within the body of your posts is not allowed. You may include a link to your website in your signature or in the "Links" forum provided on the Shelbees site.
Signatures. In the interest of maintaining a civil and productive forum, signatures cannot be critical or derogatory towards any person or group of persons based on ethnicity, religion, gender or sexual orientation. Refrain from using political and/or religious remarks.
Links in signatures must follow these guidelines
•Linking to a commercial product/service is fine, provided it is a product or service which does not conflict with the stated rules of this board.
•Promotional text for a commercial product or service is ok, provided there are no price(s) of product(s) or service(s) listed.
•A link and promotional text for a site that is not commercial and does not contain product(s) and/or service(s) is allowed, provided the site is not sexual or does not violate Shelbees Beekeeping Forums community standards or compete with the Forum itself. The Shelbees Beekeeping Forums team shall be the sole arbitrator of what does and what does not violate community standards. (Examples include sites about drugs and/or sex.)
•Duplicate links to the same URL in a signature are not allowed.
Unique forum rules. Be aware that some of the forums have their own unique posting rules in addition to these. These rules are posted in the individual forum in the form of a "stuck" thread, located at the top.
User Name changes. We do not change User Names. At registration it was made clear that your User Name should be chosen carefully as it will not be changed at any time.
Discussing moderation. Concerns, constructive criticism and questions of clarification regarding the User Agreement or moderator and administrator actions are best addressed directly to the moderator or administrator via the "Feedback" forum. It is our desire to be open and honest about administering this board. Please do not post on the forum simply to criticize, argue or challenge the Shelbees Beekeeping Forums User Agreement, the moderators, administrators, or their actions; try to include some constructive suggestions for how we might improve this site to better serve our members. Refusal to cooperate with board moderators or to abide by the rules as stated is grounds for revocation of your posting privileges, so please: let's try to work together to change the rules when necessary rather than just get annoyed with one another.
Advertising. You may advertise a beekeeping related product or service in the "Want Ads" Forum only. Chain letters, pyramid schemes, and solicitations are not permitted on the Shelbees Beekeeping Forums and will be deleted. We will notify the Internet service provider of any party posting objectionable messages.
Attachments/Images. There are restrictions on the file size of attachments. If you can't get an attachment to upload, check to make sure your file size is not larger than 195 kB for .jpg, .gif, .bmp, .jpeg, .pdf, .png, .txt, .xls, .xlsx. There is a maximum width and height of 800x800 pixels for .bmp, .gif, .jpg, .jpeg, .png.
We at the Shelbees Beekeeping Forums reserve the right to edit, delete, or move any message for any reason whatsoever(although we will attempt to notify the original poster regarding the reasons for the decision). You remain solely responsible for the content of your messages, and you agree to indemnify and hold harmless BShelbees.com )and the Shelby County Beekeepers Association, with respect to any claim based upon transmission of your message(s).
We at Shelbees also reserve the right to reveal your identity (or whatever information we know about you) in the event of a complaint or legal action arising from any message posted by you.
By posting on this board you grant Shelbees Beekeeping Forums a nonexclusive irrevocable right to reuse your posting in any manner it sees fit without notice or compensation to you. One last thing. This message board allows us to selectively ban individual users, and to delete all postings by a particular screen name in a single operation. We hope never to have to implement this right.
